Debbie Ziemke, CA (I LOVE it... it's simple, yet elegant. Now I'm gonna have to buy that tree set!)

I'm back from Utah. I had a great time at the Stampin' Up National Convention. I learned some fun new techniques, swapped cards with many other stampers, and received a couple of FREE stamp sets, ink, paper, and glitter from the company. Stampin' Up loves their demonstrators and it shows. :) Now comes the fun part for you.... getting ideas from the swaps I brought home. I'll be adding some images of the swaps over the next week or two. All these ideas should cure any "stampers-block" you may have! Enjoy! (PS - For those of you interested in my non-stampin' life, I'll be posting pics not only of the convention, but also of me at Bryce Canyon on my Facebook page. Check there in a couple of days and they'll be posted.)
I should be in bed sleeping, but I decided I'd post the pics of the swaps I'm taking instead. I'm taking 50 of each style. Three are cards (the heart one is actually dimensional, but you can't tell from the photos,) but I also made a covered container with the new DSP and even added a lifesaver mint to each.
I intended to post the photos of the swaps I'm taking to convention. However, I'm out of time. I'll try to post them when I get home next week. Also, I'll be sure to share some of the ones I receive as well. Bye - See you on the 29th! :)
I'll be leaving for the Stampin' Up convention in Salt Lake City on Tuesday. I finally finished the last of my 200 swaps (I plan to post the pics before I leave.) Meanwhile, I bought a notepad to take and it just looked so boring. I made a cover for it and even decorated my pen. Here's a pic of the finished product. It will make note taking much more fun. hehe
This card makes me feel like I need to be traveling to some exotic tropical island. Instead I'm heading to Winco today. lol I think I'll look at the card and daydream some more! I used the Tropical Party stamp set which is in the Summer Mini and is only available for purchase until the end of August.
Yesterday was Susan Schrock's Hostess Club. We made 3 beautiful cards (2 of which are shown here.) Hostess Clubs are so much fun. A few ladies commit to be members of the "club" for a set period of time and agree to purchase at least $25 in merchandise each month for the duration of the club (most often the duration is 6 months, but it depends upon the number of participants.) Each month the club meets and makes a couple of cards. It's great because you learn new skills, enjoy the company of others, and leave with 3 beautiful, finished cards and ideas to make more at home. The club members take turns being the hostess. The hostess of the month receives a FREE stamp set and a $15 credit to use on any item(s) in the catalog. I'll be starting a new hostess club in September. Contact me to reserve your space now.
Tonight I finished preparing the cards from Tuesday's workshop to mail to Operation Write Home. I'm pleased to announce that we're sending in 90 cards. Wow! The organization also added a post about us to their blog and included some photos. http://www.owhhomefrontblog.org/
Tonight I held a workshop at Church of the Good Samaritan. Eight ladies came and worked hard to make 40 cards to be sent overseas for Operation Write Home. I did give them quotas, but it was all in good fun! hehe We all had a great time (except for June who struggled with her glue dots all night. lol) Anyway, I'll plan another event in September. If you're in the Corvallis area and would like to join us next time, be sure to contact me.
There's been some confusion over how to find the Clearance Rack on my website. Here are step-by-step instructions to take you there. :)
1. Click on the Shopping Cart icon on the right side of the blog and it will take you to my shopping site.
2. Once you've reached the site, click on the "Shop Now" button located in the upper right hand corner.
3. On the shopping page, there is a list of options on the left. The 3rd one down the list is the Clearance Rack.
4. Now you're ready to click thru the available bargains.
Remember to check back every few weeks because the offers change. Also, if you see an item you want, don't wait to purchase it! Many items are available in very limited supply and will sell out quickly. (I know because I've seen things and thought "I'll order it tomorrow" only to find it sold out when I return.)
I love a bargain, don't you? If you haven't already, you should check out the Clearance Rack on my Stampin' Up shopping website (click on the shopping cart to go there now.) Check it often because the deals change pretty regularly. There are some awesome buys to be found. For example, I recently ordered a pack of designer series paper that was normally $9.95, but it was discounted to only $3.99. I used some "Green Tea" paper from my clearance find and combined it with a little Baja Breeze and Old Olive to make a birthday gift for a friend. The stamp set is Fast & Fabulous, a level 2 hostess gift from the new catalog. (It's a set you can earn for FREE when you host a workshop!) Have fun looking for bargains!
Here's a card I made with the hostess set, "Because I Care." I really dislike coloring in stamped images and every thing I've tried with this set, up until today, I marked as a failure and sent to my garbage can. Today I thought I'd give it one more shot and I pulled out my Watercolor Wonder Crayons and my Bashful Blue cardstock and created something I actually like. As Babe Ruth once said, "Every strike brings me closer to the next home run."
Wishing all my friends a safe and happy July 4th. Now, put down your rubber stamps (wow.. did I really say that??) and go enjoy the holiday festivities with those you love the most. :) Check back with me in the next couple of days for a new card design.
