Coming Soon!

IMG_2387

Have you ever purchased something only to find it on sale a week later?  I hate that!  I was thinking of that and of the upcoming Stampin’ Up promotion and thought I’d share this with you a little early.  The bottom line:  Don’t buy from me until next week!  It’s not that I don’t want your business… I do!  It’s just that if you wait until July you can get a great stamp set for very little $$$.

IMG_2389

Here’s the deal:  From July 1-31, 2012, you can get a special stamp set valued at $20.95 called “Reason to Smile” for only $5 when you order $50 or more in other merchandise.  It’s a cute floral 2-step stamp set.  I used it on both the cards I’m featuring today to give you an idea of the versatility.

My first card was made using the full flower and the blossom.  I stamped the blossom onto First Edition Specialty dsp and then stamped the full flower onto very vanilla carstock.

The 2nd card was made using the blossom, again, plus another cute little flower from the set.  I paired it with the Birds of a Feather dsp.

The cards have entirely different styles despite using the same stamp set.

Simply Wonderful

IMG_2383

I love it when other people give me card ideas to share.  This card was made by my friend, Margaret.  She made the connection that the solid leaf image from the new Papaya Collage set matches the open leaf from the recently retired, Growing Green set.  I’m glad I save that set because the two look great together.  She also used the Friendly Phrases and Papillion Potpourri sets with the coordinating butterfly punch.  Thanks for sharing it with me, Margaret.

You Are Loved

IMG_2377

June 21, 1908, was the day that my grandmother was born.  Although she’s been gone for a long time, I still think of her on this day every year.  She was a strong influence in my life and I miss her dearly.  This card reminds me of her.  It reminds me of the clothes she wore because she often wore floral dresses with lacy collars.  I used the You Are Loved stamp set with the baby wipe technique.  (That’s a lot easier than using markers to color in all the images on this heart!)  I used the new in-color ink refills and then stamped the background with Primrose Petals for a tone-on-tone look.  The doily gives it the vintage look I was seeking.

Two to Share

IMG_2372

I have 2 cards to share with you today.  The first was one I made at my friend & downline’s house.  Peggy designed this card and I think it’s super cute.  I love the colors, but then again Crumb Cake is one of my favorites.  Peggy actually designed 3 cute cards for her class, but for some reason I was too busy talking and had only finished one at the end of the 2 hours.  Next time I’ll do better!

IMG_2373

The 2nd card was my attempt at a new technique.  I saw a card made by Betsy Veldman with a technique called bordered sentiments.  In essence, you stamp a sentiment on a piece of cardstock.  Then you draw lines above and below it with a marker.  You mask off the area between the lines and then stamp your images all around it.  I think it’s a great technique, but I evidently need some practice because my images didn’t land right against my lines.  I’m going to practice until I get it right!

Many Birthdays

IMG_2368

Wow!  So many of my friends were born in June & July!  I have gotten behind on making birthday cards, so I’ve been trying to catch up.  Unfortunately I was in such a rush to get the cards to the recipients that I didn’t take photos of them for the blog.  (Sorry!  I will try to do better.)  I did, however, do a quick card that has more of a masculine feel.  This one uses Bring on the Cake set, my new favorite – Distressed Dots (I have been using it on everything lately!,) and a little piece of the World Spectacular paper.  Those elephants are just so darn cute!

Best wishes today to my friends, Anne & Robin, who were both born today.  Also, belated wishes to Diane who had to wait a week to get her card from me.

Happy You–Take 2

IMG_2365

I wanted to share another card I made with the Happy You hostess set.  I paired the cute image with some cheerful paper from the Floral District dsp.

PS – I thought I’d share a funny note about my card photography.  Before we moved into this house in January, I had a wonderful deck that got lots of morning sun.  I always photographed my cards on the railing of the deck and I thought they usually turned out well.  Then we moved.  I have been trying to find a good photography spot in the house and I’ve even had to use the scanner a few times because I can’t seem to get enough natural light to show off the cards.  Today I ventured outside when it was bright and sunny.  I positioned the card on the porch and then had to back down the steps and crouch down to get eye level with the card.  I must have looked pretty funny with chest to the step, knees on another step and tail in the air.  Anyway, there were neighbors out walking who saw me in this odd position and thought I had fallen down.  Oh the things I do for my blog!  hehe

Happy You!

This is one of the new hostess sets.  I used the same set for the peek-a-boo card I showed earlier.  Here’s another cute card made with a different stamp in that set.  The set is versatile and can be used for many occasions.  I made this card for my mom as a wedding card.  It would also be a cute Valentine’s Day or anniversary card.

Another Peek-a-Boo Card

Remember the video I had on the blog last week about using the Make A Cake stamp set to create a peek-a-boo card?  Well, I made another one with different designer paper and a different stamp set.  This card uses the hostess set, Happy You, with Floral District designer paper on Daffodil Delight cardstock.  It also uses a new stitched ribbon.  The card looks different, but I made it the same way I made the Make a Cake variety.  It’s easy!  It was one of the make & take cards at my open house and I think everyone agreed that it was a fun card.

IMG_2362

Try making it along with the video.  Your friends will be impressed when you present them with a card like this!

On another note, the product shares I mentioned earlier are starting to fill up.  Not only is it great to have such a variety of ribbon, but think about the possibilities of using the designer paper.  This card only used a small 1” strip.  With just one 6” square of designer paper, you could make six greeting cards this way!  Now you see why the shares are filling up!  The ladies who ordered the shares will be getting 94 squares of different papers.  That will make a ton of cards in many varieties!  Let me know if you want to participate and I’ll add your name to the list.

New Catalog Product Shares

1213catalog

I love the new catalog, don't you?  I have tons of little pieces of paper marking all the items on my wish list.  My catalog already looks well worn.  hehe  Is your wish list as long as mine?

To help you get many of the items on your wish list without breaking your budget, I am excited to offer several different product shares. (What’s a share?  I take orders from multiple customers who agree to “share” packages of paper, ribbon, or embellishments.  I divide up the packages and send them to the participants.)  You'll get a sampling of many items for a small price.  Check out all the details below and EMAIL ME to reserve your spot.

3. Mailing Address (U.S. only)
4. Which share(s) you would like to reserve
