3 Years of Paper Pumpkin

paperpumpkinanniversary

Can you believe I’ve been talking about Paper Pumpkin for 3 years now?  Where has the time gone?  This program started weak, but has turned out to be a good craft surprise for me every month.  You know how I’ve mentioned that I’m not in a crafty mood lately?  Paper Pumpkin helps.  I almost always do the projects when they arrive.  I love that everything I need is right inside the box, including full instructions.  Sometimes it’s SO nice not to have to come up with the idea.  It’s a good deal for $20/month because that’s less than I’d pay to take a class at a local scrapbooking store.

There will be a special box in March to celebrate the 3rd anniversary.  I can’t wait to see what’s inside!  If you’d like to try it out, you can get the March box if you subscribe by March 10th.  Don’t like subscriptions?  I also sell prepaid memberships so when you’re out of time you’re not under obligation to continue.

I’m crafting today!  Woo Hoo!  Maybe I will this weekend too.

A Retirement Card

IMG_1362
I haven’t been in the mood to stamp lately.  I’ve even considered taking up a different hobby like quilting or knitting.  My husband frowned at that idea and said, “You can’t stop stamping.  What will you do with all the stuff in your room?”  He’s right.  I think it’s a passing thing.  Meanwhile my friend, Sharon, is retiring from her nursing job.  I considered buying her a card (gasp!), but in the end I brought myself out of stamping “retirement” to make a card & I actually enjoyed it.  I used two free items from the Sale-a-Bration catalog (Wildflower Fields stamp set and matching designer paper.)  I combined those with the Wild About Flowers set from the annual catalog to get the sentiments that would be appropriate for the card.  I colored the images and used my Wink of Stella to make everything shiny.  I hope Sharon likes it & realizes how much she’ll be missed at work.  Although, her husband is thrilled that she’ll be home with him more now.
Sharon isn’t the only one retiring.  This year’s Sale-a-Bration items will retire on March 31st, so you’ve only got about a month left to earn those freebies.  Don’t let this once-a-year opportunity pass you by!

New Sale-a-Bration Set!

Balloons are so popular right now.  They make such cute and festive embellishments for greeting cards and scrapbooking pages.  Here's a brand new stamp set that coordinates with the balloon punch (item #140609.)  Best of all, the set is FREE during Sale-a-Bration with a $50 order.  I'm adding this to my wish list!

Happy Chinese New Year!

purple-lanterns

Lunar New Year officially begins today and lasts 15 days, so you have plenty of time to celebrate!  This is the year of the Monkey.  For many years, I thought I was born in the Year of the Monkey.  Then I married my husband, who pointed out that technically I am a Sheep because I was born before the lunar new year began in that year.  The same is true for him.  Based on the year of his birth, you would think he’s a Pig, but he’s actually a Dog because of his January birthday.  Anyway, if your birthday falls under the Year of the Monkey, I hope it’s a wonderful one for you!

We already started celebrating by opening our box of new year sweets.  Sugar makes every holiday better, right?  lol  My favorites are the white sticks in the top of the photo.  Those are winter melon.  So yummy!  I don’t know everything about this holiday, but I do embrace parts of it, like eating these sweets.  I also make sure that I do not sweep the house on the first day of the new year because it’s symbolic of sweeping away wealth (and because I don’t like to clean the house.  hehe!)

If you don’t know your Chinese zodiac, here’s something to help.  Just remember, if you have a January or early February birthday, you might have to go with the prior year’s sign, depending on the date the lunar new year began the year you were born.

And once you know your sign, here’s some info for you:

Botanical Blooms

One of the perks of being a Stampin Up demonstrator is that the company provides us with some project ideas.  That's a good thing since I often need fresh ideas. Recently they created a card class based around the Botanical Blooms suite of products.  I created the kit with only a few modifications (like using black for my card holder instead of Cajun craze.)

I'm offering this tutorial free to anyone who places an order with me during Sale-a-Bration.
